Course Description
- EMR program is designed for the individual who wants to enter the BC Ambulance Service or work as an EMR in Alberta
- The program was developed by EMP Canada - our agency and it's instructors have been authorized by EMP to offer this program
- This EMR program is recognized by both the federal and provincial governments of Canada. The Emergency Medical Responder (Ambulance Attendant) course has been approved and recognized by the EMA Licensing Branch of British Columbia and the Alberta College of Paramedics. The uniqueness of these rulings/approvals is that this program is the only one in Canada that is able to offer Occupational First Aid training (OFA Level Three) that is recognized coast to coast in Canada.
Certification
Once the student is finished this course and if the exam is passed, student will receive a completion certificate The individual must arrange to take their EMA licensing exams through the EMA Licensing Branch. A student must not work as an EMR until the EMA licensing exam is passed (liability issues). Discuss this with your instructor. If exams are not passed, student cannot work as an EMR.
Admission Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age to be certified
- Be in good health and physical condition
- Prerequisite - Level 3 (no more than 6 months old)
- Must hold a current CPR C certificate (no more than 6 months old)
- Provide photographic identification to the instructor prior to issuance of a certificate
- Complete registration form prior to course commencement
- Provide a parent or guardian signature if under 19
Cost
Cost is $800.00 - Price includes textbooks.
There is no tax applicable on this course.
Time
40 Hours - 5 days usually held 8:30AM to 4:30PM
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to course start for registration to ensure the course can begin on time.
