Advanced First Aid - Level 3

Course Description

• The Advanced First Aid course (previously called Level 3) is a 70 hour program, held over two weeks (Monday to Friday).
• Learning how to utilise advanced equipment will enable the candidate to handle more complex emergencies effectively.
• Upon successful completion of the program, candidates will be better prepared and have increased confidence for workplaces with higher hazard ratings, remote workplaces, workplaces that are less accessible and workplaces with larger number employees onsite.

Admission Requirements

• No prior knowledge required to attend this course however it is highly recommended that candidates taking the course for the first time, complete the Basic First Aid course & the Transportation Endorsement course.
• Prior to course commencement: Complete the agency registration and policy forms, as well as the WorksafeBC Statement of Fitness.  Students will complete these forms when picking up books. Please allow 10 minutes to complete this process.
• We recommend getting books 3-4 weeks prior to the course. There will be pre-reading assignments before the course and each evening throughout the program.
• Be physically capable of performing the necessary skills to demonstrate competency.
• Provide a parent/guardian signature if under 16 years of age. *No minimum age requirement, but strongly recommend a minimum age of 16 years.
• Employers must ensure that a “Designated First Aid Attendant” is at least 16 years of age.
• Fees paid in full or approved for invoicing in writing.
• Candidate must wear socks during this program as scenarios will include removing socks of classmates to assess circulation and neurological function.

Certification Requirements

• The candidate must provide photographic identification to the Instructor prior to issuance of a certificate.
• If applicable, the Physician’s Medical Certificate must be received prior to issuance of certificate.
• The candidate must participate in the entire program and successfully complete course objectives.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

• ALL cancellations are subject to a $250 non-refundable fee.
• Cancellations made less than five (5) days prior to, and including the day of and “no-shows,” course commencement are not eligible for a refund.
• A $250 transfer fee will be applied if transferring to a later date than the original date registered for.
• ALL 70 course hours, including any missed time, must be completed in order to enter into the examination process. *An instructor may NOT be available to make up missed time, therefore students must make the commitment to attend all course hours in case an isntructor is not available. It is not the responsibility of the instructor to make up missed time. If an instructor is available, a $50 per hour ($12.50 per 15 minutes) fee will be applied to making up time.
