Course Description

  • Whether you use an ATV for work or pleasure or just want to brush up on your skills, this course offers something for everyone. Additional note: Course certification MAY reduce your ATV insurance rates. The program is hands-on training taught over a full one day course with students progressing through basic techniques for riding ATV’s to accomplish riding with confidence in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Course Outline: Introduction to the ATV Rider Course and proper safety gear, Pre-ride Inspection, Range Signals, Controls, starting and stopping, braking, riding strategies, turning, riding circles and figure 8’s, sharp and quick turns, stopping and swerving, emergency stops, riding over obstacles, safe riding practices and environmental concerns, traversing hills.
  • Optional add-ons: Loading and Unloading & Trail Riding- additional fee Class sizes; Small class sizes up to 8 students allows for excellent student evaluation and safe learning environment.
  • Admission Requirements: You must provide: An ATV that is suitably sized for yourself and must be mechanically sound. (If you do not have an ATV, ask us about machine rentals). You must have an appropriately sized helmet that is safety certified. Wear eye protection;- safety glasses not just vision glasses. Sturdy foot wear, long pants, long sleeve shirt, gloves. Additional clothing for the environment. Property waivers must be signed and students under age 19 require caregiver/parent signatures.
  • Age Requirements: 16 years of age and up. Under 16 years can be trained with the appropriate sized ATV and parent supervision. Smaller class sizes.
  • Recommendations: Meals are not provided: Bring your own lunch, snacks and something to drink. No alcohol permitted onsite. When registering – ask about the “ATV Rider Course book” – we recommend students review the manual prior to attending the program. However this is not mandatory and success can be achieved by receiving materials on the course day.
  • Location: Course is held 40 minutes from PG. You must bring your ATV properly secured to the training site. Facilities: This course is completely taught outdoors so dress according for current and expected weather conditions. Weather and fire rating permitted a campfire will be lit and this will be the designated smoking area. An outhouse is available onsite. *We can also provide training at your location under special request.
