Red CrossCourse Description
BLS is an advanced CPR/AED course designed for healthcare professionals, both in-facility and pre-hospital environments. Students will practice clearing airways, plus critical interventions for both respiratory and cardiac arrest.
All of our BLS courses include the Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy options unless otherwise requested. Course content includes advanced airway management techniques including oral and nasal airways, bag valve mask use, oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, and 2-rescuer high performance resuscitation.
The student must successfully demonstrate all course skill competencies, achieve a minimum 75% mark for the written knowledge evaluation, and attend and participate in 100% of the course.
All successful candidates will be issued a Canadian Red Cross BLS certificate valid for one year, as well as Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy certificates valid for three years. Certificates are issued by the Canadian Red Cross directly to the student via e-mail.
BLS is designed for in-facility care providers, including nursing staff, care aides, medical and dental professionals. Pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol.
CLASS TIME
8:15am to 3:30pm
Certification
BLS certificate valid for ONE year, and Airway Management and Oxygen Therapy certificates valid for THREE years.

Admission Requirements
- Is recommended but not mandatory to be at least 14 years of age
- Complete the agency registration forms prior to course commencement. The forms must be completed entirely.
- Provide a parent or guardian signature if under age 16.
