Course Description

BLS is an advanced CPR/AED course designed for healthcare professionals, both in-facility and pre-hospital environments. Students will practice clearing airways, plus critical interventions for both respiratory and cardiac arrest.

Course content includes advanced airway management techniques including oral and nasal airways, bag valve mask use, oxygen therapy, pulse oximetry, and 2-rescuer high performance resuscitation.

The student must successfully demonstrate all course skill competencies, achieve a minimum 75% mark for the written knowledge evaluation, and attend and participate in 100% of the course.

All successful candidates will be issued a Canadian Red Cross BLS certificate by the Canadian Red Cross via e-mail. This certification is valid for ONE YEAR upon successful completion of course.

CPR BLS is designed for: In-facility care providers, including nursing staff, care aides, medical and dental professionals. Pre-hospital care providers, which may include professionals in a fire service, rescue team, sports-medicine, lifeguards and ski patrol.

Certification

Successful candidates will be issued a Canadian Red Cross certificate valid for 1 year

Admission Requirements
  • Is recommended but not mandatory to be at least 14 years of age
  • Complete the agency registration forms prior to course commencement. The forms must be completed entirely.
  • Provide a parent or guardian signature if under age 16.
