Emergency Child Care

Course Description

• The Emergency Childcare course teaches caregivers how to assess, treat and prevent emergencies specifically focused on the infant and child ages.
• Students will learn how to manage the most common emergencies both at home and at work.
• The program is recognized by Community Care Licensing to meet standards for Childcare facilities.
• Candidates will practice single rescuer CPR/AED for both child and infant.
• The certification of CPR level issued with the Childcare certificate is CPR B.

Admission Requirements

• No prior knowledge required to attend this course.
• Provide a parent/guardian signature if under 16 years of age. *No minimum age requirement, but strongly recommend a minimum age of 16 years.
• Be physically capable of performing the necessary skills to demonstrate competency (Example: 2 minutes of good quality CPR for each age group).
• Fees paid in full or approved for invoicing in writing.

Certification Requirements

• The candidate must participate in the entire program and successfully complete course objectives.
• Candidates must provide an email address on their registration forms as the Canadian Red Cross issues certificates to the email address the candidate has provided us.
• Temporary certificates will be issued to successful candidates at the end of the program so they can have proof of completion while waiting for the email from the Canadian Red Cross.
