S185 Fire Entrapment and Avoidance Safety

Course Description

• ​The BC Wildfire Service S-185 Fire Entrapment and Avoidance program is delivered by our BC Wildfire Service-endorsed Instructor, Roy Bernhardt.
• This course is held as a 2-3 hour theory program added on to the first day of the S-100 course.
• The candidate will learn how to evaluate potential fire entrapment situations and how to act accordingly to remove self safely from a potentially risky situation.
• The candidate will learn how to deploy the necessary resources using safe and efficient strategies and tactics to prevent loss of life.
• The S-185 is a requirement for people who are under contract with the BC Government. It is also highly recommended for all other wildfire firefighters.

Admission Requirements

• The S-100 fire suppression course is a prerequisite to the S-185 course.
• Provide a parent/guardian signature if under 16 years of age.
• Fees paid in full or approved for invoicing in writing.

Certification Requirements

• The candidate must participate in the entire program and successfully complete course objectives.
